1 Group Leader/Post Doc

available at the Institute of Cell Biology (Tumour research)/Department of Molecular Cell Biology, University of Duisburg-Essen, Essen, Germany.
Our group aims at an improved understanding of the response of tumor- and normal tissue cells to chemo- and radiotherapy with a focus on signaling pathways involved in therapy-induced cell death and pro-inflammatory/profibrotic tissue reactions. Further studies focus on the mechanisms of tumor cell intrinsic and microenvironment-mediated resistance to chemo- and radiotherapy. These studies shall allow the definition of novel therapeutic targets.
We are looking for highly motivated scientists with a strong interest in interdisciplinary research projects in cell/tumor biology and a degree in biology, biochemistry, immunology or molecular medicine. The position provides the opportunity for considerable innovation in a translational research field at the interface of cell biology, radiation biology, immunology, and molecular medicine. Qualified candidates have the opportunity to establish own research projects in an excellent and supporting scientific environment and to acquire a State Doctorate (Habilitation). The applicants should have a good knowledge and practical expertise of current cell and molecular biology techniques. Hands-on experience with adenoviral/lentiviral gene transfer, animal models and/or immunologic methods is highly desired.
Interested scientists should please send their application (CV, academic record, research interests and indication of two referees) or inquiries by e-mail to Prof. Dr. Verena Jendrossek, PhD (verena.jendrossek@uni-due.de, Institute of Cell Biology, Molecular Cell Biology Group, Virchowstr. 173, 45122 Essen).
