The Fogarty Global Health Training Program invites applications for its Fogarty Global Health Training Program, sponsored by the Fogarty International Center (FIC) and several collaborating Institutes and Centers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The program is exclusively open for pre and postdoctoral candidates from the U.S. and lower-middle-income countries (LMICs).

The purpose of the program is to generate a new cadre of global health researchers, educators, and professionals who will be prepared to address the new challenges in global health.

The Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (formerly Harvard School of Public Health) is the public health graduate school of Harvard University, located in the Longwood Medical Area of Boston, Massachusetts adjacent Harvard Medical School.

Course Level: Programme is available to pursue health training.

Study Subject: Programme is awarded in the field of global health research training.

Scholarship Award: 12 Month Fellowship with stipend depending on the type of the award.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:

• Pre-doctoral Trainees-
• Trainees must meet ALL of the following requirements:
• Must be U.S. citizens or permanent U.S. residents. OR the citizen of the LMIC country in which they are proposing to conduct research.
• Must be enrolled in the accredited doctoral level program (MD, PhD or equivalent) in public health, government, business, design, engineering, education, medicine, nutrition, law, pharmacy, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and nursing.
• Health-professional students who wish to interrupt their studies for a year or more to engage in full-time research training before completing their formal training programs are also eligible.
• Post-doctoral trainees-
• Must be (a) U.S. citizens or permanent U.S. residents OR (b) citizens of LMIC with sites participating in the program.
• Must have received, as of the beginning date of the training period, a PhD, MD, DDS, or comparable doctoral degree from an accredited domestic or foreign institution.
• Comparable doctoral degrees include, but are not limited to, the following: DMD, DC, DO, DVM, OD, DPM, ScD, EngD, DrPH, DNSc, DPT, PharmD, ND (Doctor of Naturopathy), DSW, PsyD, as well as a doctoral degree in nursing research.

Nationality: Applicants from the USA or lower-middle-income countries (LMICs) are eligible to apply for the program.

Accordingly, one of the candidate’s letters of support must be from the faculty member at the consortium institution who has agreed to serve as the applicant’s primary research mentor

• Fellows must also have the support of at least one mentor from their proposed international site that is willing to serve as the fellow’s international site mentor. A letter of support from this international site faculty mentor is also strongly recommended. However, in the case of doctoral and professional student applicants who have not yet established this relationship, a letter of support from the affiliated international site is not required at the time of application but will be required before a funding decision can be made. If a letter of support is not being submitted from the affiliated international site at the time of application, the applicant’s second letter of support should come from someone who knows the applicant well and can address his or her research accomplishments, research potential, and the likelihood of a successful research career in global health research.
