Hong Leong Foundation Scholarships for Postgraduate Malaysian Students, 2015

Hong Leong Foundation is awarding up to 5 scholarships per year for Malaysians students. The scholarship open for students who have offered a seat in a full time masters programme by coursework and/or research in one of the top 200 universities of the world, as per Times Higher Education ranking. This scholarship covers tuition and living allowance up to RM250,000 for the duration of study, including cost of books and materials and visas, flights insurance and other costs as defined as part of the comprehensive fee by the university. The application deadline is 24 April, 2015.

Study Subject(s): Scholarships are awarded for postgraduate programmes which are relevant to the Hong Leong core business. The courses include (but are not limited to): The courses include (but are not limited to): Banking and finance, Risk Management, Human Resource Management, Accounting, Business Administration, Sales and marketing, Law, Research and Design, Manufacturing, Hotel Management, Industrial Design, Environmental Studies and Earth Studies.
Course Level: Scholarships are available for full time Masters programme by coursework and/or research in one of the top 200 universities of the world, as per Times Higher Education ranking.

Eligibility:
-Malaysian citizen
-Aged below 35 years
-Obtained a minimum of second class upper Degree (Hons) for Bachelor’s Degree or a CGPA of 3.65 and above
-Offered a seat in a full time Masters programme by coursework and/or research in one of the top 200 universities of the world, as per Times Higher Education ranking. The duration of the programme should not exceed 2 years
-Plans to pursue a course of study that is relevant to the Hong Leong Group of company businesses, i.e. in the manufacturing, properties, leisure and banking industries
-Demonstrates active involvement in extra-curricular, community or voluntary activities
-Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and leadership skills
-Possesses the character of an ambassador with a sense of faithfulness for Malaysia
-Must not be bonded or receiving any form of financial aid or award from other educational institutions or organizations
-Internal candidates are not eligible

Scholarship Open for International Students: Hong Leong FoundationHong Leong Foundation scholarship is open for Malaysian citizens.

Scholarship Description: In 2014, the Foundation expanded its scholarship offering to include a Master’s Scholarship programme as well as an education development programme for low-income students from challenging backgrounds who have obtained a minimum of 3As in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations. The scholarship aims to provide opportunities for further study to students who have demonstrated both academic excellence and the potential to become leaders, decision-makers, and entrepreneurs. They seek young Malaysians who possess the Hong Leong Group values of integrity, tenacity, acumen, foresight and humility.

Number of award(s): Up to 5 scholarships are awarded per year.

Duration of award(s): Scholarships are awarded for 2 years programme. University fees will be paid directly to the university every semester, whereas living expenses will be paid directly in one lump sum to the scholar. Living expenses will be based on what is defined or recommended by the university that the scholar has been accepted into.

What does it cover? This scholarship covers tuition and living allowance up to RM250,000 for the duration of study, including:
-Cost of books and materials
-Visas, flights insurance and other costs as defined as part of the comprehensive fee by the university.
In addition to financial support, they also have enrichment programmes for scholars. Recipients can take part in all the programmes deemed relevant to them. They will be informed from time to time about the opportunities via the Scholars’ Club monthly newsletter.

Selection Criteria: Candidates will be evaluated based on their academic performance, financial needs, family background and circumstances, merits, leadership qualities and etc.

Notification: Only shortlisted candidates will be notified (usually through telephone) and will be called for an interview within two weeks of receiving the application.
