ICSSPE Sport in Post-Disaster Intervention Scholarships

ICSSPE is pleased to announce scholarship opportunities to assist participants from
developing countries to attend the second international seminar on Sport in Post-
Disaster Intervention. A limited number of scholarships are available for seminar
participants from developing countries.

Three scholarships of up to 1,350 euro will be offered that may cover travel and
registration. Two additional scholarships will be offered for registration only – one
full registration of 500 euro and one student registration of 450 euro. The
registration only scholarships will also be open to applicants who live, work or study
in a developing country but may be a national of a developed country.
Selection Criteria

• Applicants must be a national of a developing country for the up to 1,350 euro
Travel and Registration Scholarship. Applicants living and/or working in a
developing country (but a national of a developed country) may apply for the
Registration Scholarships.

• Developing Countries are determined from the Organisation for Economic
Development and Cooperation (OECD) and the Development Assistance
Committee (DAC) List of Official Recipients of Aid (current for 2007 reporting)

• Applicants must be eligible for a tourist visa to enter the Federal Republic of
Germany.

• Previous experience in either sport or disaster relief is not essential.

• All applicants must complete the online registration form available on the
ICSSPE website www.icsspe.org

• Applications must include:
- Completed and signed application form
- Copy of Curriculum Vitae/Resume
- Motivation for attending the seminar (max. 1000 words in English)
- One letter of recommendation from an employer or academic supervisor
- Copy of passport and residence permit (if applicable)

Deadline
Applications must be received on Friday 15 August, 2008 before 5pm (CEST –
Central European Summer Time). Any applications received after this time will not
be accepted.

Successful applicants will be notified by email on 25 August 2008.
Scholarship Recipients

The scholarship recipients must attend more than 90% of the workshop sessions. In
addition, each scholarship recipient will be required to prepare a poster that will be
included in a lunch-time poster session during the seminar on Sport in Post-Disaster
Intervention.

At the completion of the seminar, all scholarship recipients are required to write a
1,500 word report and submit it to ICSSPE by 20th November 2008. The report
should focus on the outcomes of the seminar and how the applicant plans to
integrate specific components of the seminar in their current and/or future work or
studies.
