Identification of protein regulationg cAMP-dependent exocytic redistribution of aquaporin-2 (Berlin, Germany)

Our group is studying compartmentalized cAMP signalling in renal principal cells and cardiac myocytes. In renal principal cells, we are aiming to identify and characterize molecular mechanisms and proteins underlying the vasopressin-triggered redistribution of aquaporin-2 (AQP2) from intracellular vesicles into the plasma membrane. This process is essential for the reabsorption of water and, thereby, for the fine tuning of body water homeostasis. We offer a postdoc position to a candidate motivated to search for new proteins required for the redistribution of AQP2 by carrying out a proteome-wide RNAi screen using the high throughput screening facility of the institute. The project requires cloning techniques, protein biochemistry, fluorescence microscopy (laser scanning microscopy, FRET), and the use of small molecules as tools to reach this goal.
