IJP German-Eastern European Journalists Bursary, 2015

Applications are invited for German-Eastern European Bursary for Journalist to begin in early October 2015. Bursary will be awarded to German and Eastern European journalists from 23 to 35 years of age. The scholarship consists of a one-off payment of € 3,800. This amount is to cover travel expenses, meals and accommodation during the stay abroad, visa fees and health insurance. The application deadline is 15-April-2015.

Study Subject(s): Bursary is awarded in the area of journalism. Foreign journalistic will work on environment and to gain an insight into the local media landscape.
Course Level: This is a two months scholarship programme.

Eligibility:  Apply for German and osteruopäische journalists can obtain the age of 23 and 35 who are regularly working as a freelance staff, volunteers or editors for German or Eastern European newspapers, radio stations, TV stations or on-line editors. Good knowledge of German is a prerequisite for the Eastern European candidate. Candidates from Germany Russian skills are required.

Scholarship Open for International Students: Journalist from Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and other CIS countries, Georgia and the Baltic states are eligible to apply for this programme.

Scholarship Description: For 2015, the International Federation of Journalists write programs (IJP) for the fifteenth time their scholarship program for Eastern Europe. By Marion Dönhoff Bursary received five German journalists the opportunity for two months in a osteuropäsischen editorial work (with a Russian-speaking media) as guest editor. At the same time the fellowship program for journalists is Russia, Urkaine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and other CIS countries, Georgia and the Baltic states  announced, who can apply for a two-month stay in Germany. The scholarship is to young journalists from Germany and Eastern Europe offer the possibility to gain a personal impression of the current political, economic, cultural developments and backgrounds as well as from the social life in the host country. It offers the unique opportunity to work in a foreign journalistic work environment and to gain an insight into the local media landscape.

Number of award(s): Five scholarships will offer to German journalists.

Duration of award(s): The duration of programme is two months.

What does it cover? The scholarship consists of a one-off payment of € 3,800. This amount is to cover travel expenses, meals and accommodation during the stay abroad, visa fees and health insurance. Remuneration of journalistic activities place does not take place. A shift of the residency is not possible.

Selection criteria: The selection is made with the exclusion of remedies by a jury on the basis of the application documents by June 1.

How to Apply: Applications must be send by post. Applications must be received by 15th April 2015 be received (date of postmark; please no writing, no package, no courier service).
-Candidates are requested to send the following documents in German to the specified address:
-a curriculum vitae with passport photo
-a letter of motivation
-a journalistic report of the department head or chief editor (which also supports the application, if necessary leave of absence for the duration of the fellowship ensures and serves as a journalistic activity detection)
-maximum of three written work samples; TV and radio journalists will be asked to work as proof of tapes, but a list of outstanding contributions indicating a preference for host media (for German applicants: a preference for certain specified countries or to indicate whether the application is to apply to all of these countries).
