Fully Funded MRes in Biomedical Physical Chemistry
The Chemical Biology Centre, a joint venture of Imperial College London, The Institute of Cancer Research and the London Research Institute of Cancer Research UK has fully funded studentships available for this 1-year course commencing in October 2008. The course is directed at physical sciences graduates wanting to study biological processes at the molecular level (no previous biological experience is required).
Advances in understanding biomolecular processes have often depended on the collaborative efforts of biochemists, chemists and physicists. This course enables students to bridge the gap that can exist between these disciplines because of differences in ‘language,’ perspective and methodology.
The course consists of a yearlong interdisciplinary research project, taught courses in advanced biochemistry, practical laboratory experience of biomolecular techniques, specialist lectures in transferable skills and group discussion sessions.
All applicants wishing to apply for funded studentships must be a UK/EU resident with (or about to obtain) a good degree (2(i) or above) in a physical science subject (prior biological experience is not required).
