Rationale:
Energies in various forms are indispensable for sustaining human life and pursuing development. Consumption of energy resources worldwide has increased conspicuously in the past decades along with economic growth and population increase, for which exhaustible fossil fuel resources are occupying majority of consumption. Such mass consumption has resulted in serious environmental impacts represented by emission of greenhouse gases.
Energy efficiency is the cheapest, fastest and smartest strategy available for saving money and resources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions around the world. To provide energy security and to preserve the environment for future generations, it is essential to be knowledgeable about state-of-the-art technologies in effective measures for energy conservation.
Objectives:
The Training Course is intended to
???? Inform trends in energy demands and impacts on the environment,
????Understand representative energy conservation and application technologies thereof,
????Understand utilization technologies of unused energies in the systems,
????Describe Life Cycle Assessment on energies for environmental evaluation,
????Study Kyoto Protocol and Clean Development Mechanism and its implementation, and
????Secure sound perspectives on sustainability.
Target participants:
The Training Course is designed for mechanical, industrial, electrical, environmental, chemical and other engineers engaged in energy related tasks. Interested individuals from industrial sectors, consulting firms and public establishments are encouraged to apply.

The training course comprises of lectures in English, case studies and workshops, video presentation, country reports and site visits to energy related facilities.

The lecturers are drawn from expert resources of EBARA Corporation and its affiliates, and Faculty of the Asian Institute of Technology, etc.

To participate in this course, the applicant should take into account his/her academic qualifications, professional experience and likely benefit of the course to the applicant and affiliated organization. Proficiency in English language is essential.

I am an Environmental Health Technologist by profession employed by the Ministry of Health in Zambia. I have been working as such from the year 2000. My main interest on the part of my work is waste management and how waste can be used as a major source of energy. I am from Indonesian and work for Indonesian Govt. in mitigation and volcanological center for geology disaster. In 1990-1997 i have been working for Research and Technology for Oil and Gas Center in Jakarta, during that time I Have been involved in several projects in petroleum and gas exploitations. And in 1998-2003 I have been joined with Geothermal exploration projects in East Indonesian Regionand funded by Japanese Government. my work involves issues of energy saving technologies in the rural setting of malawi. Many Malawians (all Malawians in the rural areas and somwe in urban areas) use wood for fuel. This poses a threat on the forests and climate change. The energy saving technologies we are promoting involves the use of as little fuel wood as possible while we are also promoting rehabilitation of forests and management of indeginous forsets. Electric subway train system for public mass transportation is the best model for protecting environment of the globe. Developed as well as developed country should follow this. I would also like to be a part of the program. I have developed tested a model of machine for harvesting gravitational potential energy and then to use it for transportation in hilly lands. I hope to develop it to practical model. Such training program is very important.

I have B A In Environmental Management from Makerere University. I am working with German Development Service(DED)Refugee/ IDP programme in Madi Okollo Refugee settlement.
I am involved alot in the rehabilitation of the Environment resources projects in the area. One of the projects is the promotion of Energy conservation techniques and technologies( soft and hard wares) through use of local materials. For example we train refugees and host communities in energy saving stoves to reduce on excessive use of woodfuel( fire wood and charcoal).
This has impacted positively in the lives of women, children and other community members interms of less smoke, less use of fuelwood, saving productive time e.t.c.
So as an Environmentalist I am very much interested to access the scholarship to attend training in Energy conservation.
