2015 NCRA-TIFR Visiting Students Research Program In India

Applications are invited for Visiting Students’ Research Program for the year 2015. The Visiting Students’ Research Programme (VSRP-2015) is for students who will complete their M.Sc. or Integrated M.Sc. degrees (in Physics, Astronomy, Applied Mathematics or Electronics) or their B.E./B.Tech. degrees (in any stream) in 2016. All students selected for the VSRP will be provided with accommodation during the VSRP. The VSRP students will also be paid a stipend of Rs. 7000/- per month. The last date to receive the online application forms is February 20, 2015.

Eligibility: Applications are invited for this programme from academically outstanding and highly motivated students with an interest in physics and astronomy, and who will complete their M.Sc. or Integrated M.Sc. degrees (in Physics, Astronomy, Applied Mathematics or Electronics) or their B.Tech./B.E. degrees (in any stream) in 2016. Based on their performance in the research project, the project seminar and subsequent interviews, outstanding students will be offered a research scholarship towards a Ph.D. at NCRA, to be taken up on completion of the qualifying degree.

Internship Open for International Students: Indian students are eligible to apply for this internship.

Is this paid internship? Yes, Students selected for the VSRP-2015 will be paid a stipend of Rs. 7000/- per month and will be provided with hostel accomodation during the programme. They will also be paid 1.33 times the second-class return railway fare between the place of their residence or education and Pune.

NCRA-TIFR offers exciting opportunities for research in Astronomy and Astrophysics, and instrumentation, with an emphasis on radio astronomy. NCRA-TIFR has built and operates the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope, which is located near Pune, and is the most powerful radio telescope in the world at low radio frequencies.
