Now I am graduates of Arba Minch University in the department of Meteorology (BSC).
I am interested to proceed in this field of study and related fields. That is why I am looking the only alternate scholars. My wishes and interests come to true, when you once give me a chance. I hope, I will have a time to hear your positive response. Learning is the only choice to come up with the solution of climate change and its effect (especially for developing countries that don’t have an access to learn).

  4. I am Rev. Josephat Sahani Kaboya aged 39 years, an employee with National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) at Tabora Research Centre in Tanzania.

I have been working with this Research Institution since 1993 to date as a Senior Laboratory Technologist. In 2001, I completed a two year course of Advanced Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences (specialized in Parasitology and Medical Entomology) at the Muhimbili University of health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) by then was known as Muhimbili University College of health Sciences (MUCHS)

Last year i.e 2008, I was offered a place to pursue MSc -Research/PhD in Biomedical Sciences (Biology of Cancer) in the school of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Liverpool, UK.

I tried to look for scholarship/sponsorships but I didn’t get any assistance financially. This year (during this academic year 2009/2010) the Liverpool school authority has nominated me again to pursue the same course.

I therefore, ask you to assist me financially to meet the school required tuition fee (pounds 12,000), bench fee (pounds 3,000.
Bench fee in years 2-4 will be ponds 6,000 = pounds 18,000.

The course is of 4 years and this offer is a conditional one (i.e. it depends on the availability of funds) Also, the course commences on 21st September,2009

I hope that, my financial request will be considered as this course is very important not only to me but also to my institute (NIMR), country and the World at large.

Thanks and God bless you forever.

    Yours truly,

    Rev. Josephat Sahani Kaboya,

    Dear / Sir

I am an Ethiopian having LLB with CGPA of 3.57. Currently I am in Oromia institute of justice and professionals training and research center as a trainee. I also have another BA degree in foreign language and literature (English Education) together with six years of teaching experience from elementary to preparatory classes. Yet I want to upgrade my educational level to second degree (LLM) or any second degree related to my field of study Because I strongly want to play a role in solving the problem in the administration of justice up on returning to my country. But I could not upgrade my qualification to LLM due to shortage of money. Because I used my resources exhaustively being a family man snatching from the mouths’ of my kids during my first degrees study. Therefore, I couldn’t stretch my hands farther to help myself. Please would you help me in realizing my dreams?

    With best regard

  38. Another advice from this program.

Create your own website to introduce yourself, preferably with your writing samples, documents to show your language proficiency, or any other achievements of yours.
It will help you be known by institutions and professors with whom you want to study as well as it shows your IT and presentation skills.

You need to read as many publications of the professors as possible to create your research proposal with more attractive for them before applying for any graduate programs.

    Good luck!

  39. Thank you very much for your interests in Tohoku University!

We do not consider your application nor answer your questions on line including this website, however. Please follow the official procedure I mentioned before in my second comment. Notice, YOU MUST WRITE YOUR RESEARCH PROPOSAL AND LET IT APPROVED BY THE PROSPECTIVE ADVISOR BEFORE APPLICATION!

    We hope your successful study!

  56. For those who are applying for the international graduate program for advanced science (IGPAS):

Thank you for your interests in the graduate school of science, Tohoku University. You may well begin to investigate academic institutions one year or even earlier before your beginning to study in Japan for successful and enjoyable life and study. Some international students try to find graduate programs after they are nominated as MEXT scholarships with recommendation by an embassy, but it is no wonder if anybody call them too late.

Before sending any inquiry, please closely examine the website of the school first to know whether any of our programs fits your interests and research prospective.
You should understand that each graduate school of science differs in disciplines it covers. For example, the graduate school of science in Tohoku University may not be the best choice for you if your prospective major is:

Biology (Alternative: the graduate school of life science)
Computer science (Alternative: the graduate school of information science)
Robotics (Alternative: the graduate school of engineering)

while statistics is covered in mathematics.

The division for international research and educational cooperation (as well as most offices of international affairs of most academic institutions in the world) is not able to find who will be the best professor for you. You will need to find a prospective advisor by yourself.

The following are some ways to find researchers who you may want to work with.
Tohoku University provides a database of faculty members, “Academic research staff at Tohoku University http://db.tohoku.ac.jp/whois/TunvTopE.html “. You may search by research field, affiliation, name, publication, or keyword. An alternative way to find your prospective advisor is Google Scholar http://scholar.google.com/ . You will get a list of publications by typing keywords and “Tohoku University.” By reading some of those articles, you will be able to list researchers you want to choose as prospective advisors. It is in fact one of the best way to prepare for studying abroad, because you know better topics those researchers work on and you are to discuss your research proposal with them on the basis of the information from the publications before you apply for graduate programs.

Here is a general advice for applying for any graduate programs.
Some prospective international students complain that researchers do not reply when they write them. In the most cases, it is because your presentation of yourself does not sufficiently appeal to them. Before writing a reply they need to be able to imagine what will happen if you come to their lab and work there, while in most cases they have no idea who you are, what you are interested in, how well you work with them when they get your mail. Thus, you need to give them as much information of you as possible. Prepare your inquiry to any of prospective advisors with your possible contribution to their research. That is why it is important to read publications of the prospective advisor in the early stage of the application process. It may also help if your current advisor writes a letter to the prospective advisor.

General introduction of Tohoku University, including application procedure, appears at http://insc.tohoku.ac.jp/main_e.html. However, application procedure, deadline, and documents vary by graduate programs. Only after finding a prospective advisor, you can prepare the documents. Contact prospective advisors with your research proposal and ask him/her what you will need for application.

    Good luck!
