Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) 2011-2012 for government officials in Mongolia.
Objective:
Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) was established by the Government of Mongolia with the assistance of the Government of Japan for the Japanese fiscal year of 2001.
The objective of JDS Program is to support human resources development of Mongolia that receive Japanese grant aid, targeting highly capable, young government officials who are expected to engage in formulating and implementing social and economic development plans and to become leaders in Mongolia. Participants of the JDS Program shall contribute to an expanded and enhanced foundation for bilateral relations with Japan, as persons having well-rounded knowledge of Japan.
Participants of the JDS program will acquire expert knowledge, conduct research, and build human networks at Japanese universities, and are expected to use such knowledge to take an active role in practically solving problems of the social and economic development issues that Mongolia is facing.
2. Framework of JDS Program in Mongolia:
The framework of the JDS program under new system was applied in JFY 2008, in order to ensure the better assessment and enhance efficiencies of the program. A single program was designed to have “four batches” and this is the third batch in Mongolia.
The new JDS program consists of the sectors called “sub-program” and “component”, which correspond to and deal with the selected target priority area and development issues. In Mongolia, three sub-programs and seven components have been settled, which were confirmed as being indispensable to the economic and social development of Mongolia through the preliminary study. The candidates of the JDS program are selected from the “Target Organizations” related to the target priority areas and development issues to be developed. Accepting Japanese universities are allocated to each component, which provide educational programs corresponded to the needs on development issues. The degree to be obtained is master’s degree (2 years course). The number of dispatches is 18 for one batch. The Medium of instruction is English.
3. Qualification to applyTarget government organizations were set under JDS program in Mongolia. Therefore, the component and the university that you will study in are decided due to the organization which you belong to.
Other qualifications are as followings;
(1) Citizen of Mongolia
(2) Between the age of 22 and 39 as of April 1, 2011
(3) Must be a regular employee who has more than two-years work experience in the target organization.

(4) Has a bachelor’s degree from universities authorized by the Government of Mongolia or other countries.
(5) Has a Basic Mathematics skill except Kyushu University
(6) Has a good command of both written and spoken English.(TOEFL score of 500 or higher is preferred)
(7) Mentally and physically in good health.
(8) Has not been awarded or scheduled to receive another scholarship.
(9) Has not already taken a master’s degree in a foreign country under any kind of scholarship.
(10) Military personnel registered on the active list or person on alternative military service can not apply for JDS.

Recruitment period 20th of July to 12th of October, 2010
