John Britten Memorial Scholarship 2011, New Zealand
Job Description: This scholarship is to provide funding to a student who has been identified as a person who demonstrates some of the attributes associated with John Britten, world renowned designer, motorcycle engineer and entrepreneur. John Britten was known throughout the Automotive Industry for the attributes of excellence, motivation, innovation and initiative. This scholarship seeks to encourage these attributes in others as they enter the industry. It will provide funding to complete a second year of training towards the National Certificate in Motor Industry (Automotive Engineering) (Level 4) at the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic.
Value
Full fees for the National Certificate in Motor Industry – Automotive Engineering (Level 4) at the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic. The student shall be responsible for their own course related costs.
Eligibility
Applications are open to all students who successfully complete the National Certificate in Motor Industry (Automotive and Mechanical Engineering) Level 3 Light Vehicle programme and who wish to continue their education with the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic in the National Certificate in Motor Industry (Automotive Engineering) Level 4 in the following year.
Scope of the award
The scholarship is a single award for the full fees payment towards the National Certificate in Motor Industry – Automotive Engineering (Level 4) at the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic. A certificate of recognition will also be awarded to the student.
Criteria
The applicant must present evidence of how they demonstrate the following attributes in any area of their life, and in relation to the Automotive Industry in particular:
• Excellence
• Motivation
• Innovation
• Initiative
Requirements
You are required to submit a statement detailing the following with your application:
• your reasons for wishing to enter your chosen programme at Bay of Plenty Polytechnic
• why and how you are focused on your chosen subject area, and how this scholarship would help you
succeed
• information on how you meet the scholarship criteria, evidence may include any of the following and other evidence: a CV; attendance and commitment to study at polytechnic; involvement in work experience; related interests outside of polytechnic programme; supporting statements from work experience providers, previous employers or other parties.
Applicants must show they already have some of these attributes, or have the potential to develop them.
A decision will be based on the best presentation of the portfolio or argument. A reference form is available to assist this process. Regulations governing the scholarships are available on the BoPP website:
