India Meteorological department invites applications for Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) and Technical Associate (TA) to be recruited purely on temporary basis in the scheme “Metropolitan Weather Information and Forecast System for NCR of Delhi including CWG 2010” under XI Plan Projects of IMD. The tenure of the above posts will be two years. However, it may be extended further for one year if performance of the candidate is found satisfactory
The particulars under this scheme are given below* :
A Junior Research Fellow
1. M.Sc/B.Tech in Atmospheric Science with research/ experience/ specialization in Numerical Weather Predication.
2. M.Sc Statistics/ Mathematical Science with experience in computer programming.
3. M.Sc/B.Tech in computer science with specialization in data base management/ GIS
1st and 2nd year Rs. +H.R.A Subsequent year Rs. H.R.A.

B Technical Associates
M.Sc/M. Tech in computer science/ Hardware/ Electronic / Electric Engineering or B.Tech in computer science/ Hardware/ Electronic / Electric Engineering with two years’ experience.
*Preference will be given to higher qualification/experience
Nationality/Age: Indian nationals with the following age limits are eligible to apply.
Age Limit: As on 1st May, 2009, the candidate should not exceed the following age criterion.
For JRF / TA – 28 years
The age criterion is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates. (The SC/ST /OBC certificate should be as per the standard format).

SELECTION PROCEDURE / APPOINTMENT
Applications will be screened and candidates found suitable will be called to appear for an interview in Delhi. Preference will be given to those candidates whose research interest and work experience has relevance to the mandate of the Project. The selected candidates will be offered Fellowship at IMD for an initial period of 2 years which may be extended by another year based on the performance of the candidate and requirement in the Department.
HOW TO APPLY
a) The application should be preferably be typewritten on a plain paper as per the pro-forma for only one of the posts listed above. Multiple applications received would be rejected.
b) Attach only photocopies of the following documents/ certificates duly attested by a Gazetted Officer/ Head of the Institution (Do not enclose original certificates).
i) All degree certificates and mark sheets starting with HSC and upto the eligibility qualification.
ii) Proof of date of birth e.g. CBSE/HSC/SSC/Matriculation certification.
iii) SC/ST/OBC certificate, if applicable, as per the prescribed format.
c) Enclose a self addressed envelope (size 5”x7”) with complete postal address including PIN code.
d) Affix one passport size photograph on the top right corner of the application and enclose one spare photograph inside the envelope indicated at “c” above. Append your signatures across both the photographs.
e) Persons working under the central/State Government / Public Sector Undertakings should submit their applications through proper channel.
