University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW), the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India and Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) are partnering to support the prestigious Khorana Program for Scholars named in honor of Dr. Har Gobind Khorana, who won the Noble Prize in 1968 for his work at the interface of chemistry and biology while a member of the UW faculty. The Khorana Program will provide opportunity to Indian students to undertake research at University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) in Summer 2010 for a period of 10 weeks.
The Khorana Program is envisaged to
* Provide encouragement to young scholars to undertake R&D
* Enable students to carry out research at a premier University in the United States.
* Transform research into societal benefits
* Build a seamless scientific community between India and the United States.
Khorana Scholars Program for Students from India to internships at UW-Madison
B.Tech, M.Tech and M.Sc. students currently enrolled in recognized institution of higher education in India in the areas of Biotechnology including agricultural, health and biomedical sciences are invited to apply for internships for summer research at UW-Madison.
Scholarship includes: Stipend, Accommodations, Airfare
Program dates: May 18 – July 31, 2010

My name is Anwar Sadat Nafees Chibsah.I am a bsc chemistry graduate from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Ghana.During my undergraduate thesis I worked on the determination of total mercury in the hair of some students of the university using Automatic Mercury Analyzer 5000 which was developed in Japan.The results indicated that total mercury levels were generally below the WHO recommended level of 5ppm.

Respected Sir, I am Chandrakant Tiwari from Uttar Pradesh, state of India. I have completed my M.Sc. Forestry from Forest Research Institute, University, Dehradun ( India) in 2009. Right now I am pursuing my P.hd. in Forest Botany ( Physiology) on “Isozyme Analysis of Bamboo Species” from plant Physiology Discipline, Botany Divison Forest Research Institute, Dehradun ( India). Simultaneously I am doing a project related to Bamboo. I have also done my dissertation of three months on isozyme analysis of five mangrove species from AERU, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata (India). I have done some short term practical works regarding my academics are as follows: In vitro propagation of Bambusa nutans from Tissue Culture Discipline, Forest Research Institute, Dehradun (India). In vitro propagation of Dendrocalamus giganteus from Tissue Culture Discipline, Forest Research Institute, Dehradun (India). Techniques involved in Plant Genome Analysis (includes PCR, Agarose Gel Electrophpresis) through RAPD from Divison of Genetics & Tree Propagation, Forest Research Institue, Dehradun, (India).
