Laden Family Research Fellowship: Fellowship Summary
The Laden Family Research Fellowship will foster basic, translational, clinical and/or
epidemiological FTD research by an outstanding scientist at the beginning of his/her career. An
individual with a Ph.D., M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. at an academic facility, teaching hospital, or research
institution in the U.S. or Canada who will be in the first, second, or third year of his/her
postdoctoral training at the start of the fellowship term is eligible to apply.
A 2-year fellowship, $55,000 each year will be awarded to cover stipend and benefits with any
remaining balance of these funds permitted to be designated to direct research expenses.
Application Instructions
The materials to be submitted are:
• Cover page (specifications attached)
• Personal statement that addresses the applicant’s current interests, career goals and
interest in FTD research. Statement must be signed by applicant. (2 pages)
• Two-year research plan
o Lay abstract (250 words)
o Proposal with title, scientific abstract, aims and references (4 pages).
• IRB approval for human subjects and/or animal subjects, if applicable. Protocol may be
pending.
• Two-year budget justification (indicating the full amount of the applicant’s salary, the
amount of this award that will go toward salary and benefits, and a budget for any
balance remaining, to total $55,000 each year (no funding for indirect costs or capital
costs). If salary and benefits exceed this award, applicant must indicate source of
supplemental funding.)
• Candidate’s CV and proof of citizenship/residence or J-1 visa status, if applicable.
• Letter of sponsorship with original signature (1 page)
• Sponsor’s CV and funding
