Large Scale Position Measuring Systems for Multi Coordinate Drive Applications
Description : Most existing multi-coordinate drives were developed for relatively high-precision applications with small moving ranges such as semiconductor manufacturing systems, machining tools, laser-cutting systems and others. In such systems, as a rule, laser interferometers or optical incremental measuring systems are applied. At the same time, there are a number of applications, such as special transport and logistic systems, where reliable multi-coordinate drives with large moving ranges and without highest precision requirements are needed. For such requirements, the unstructured induction motor principle seems to be well suitable. The purpose of the proposed project is the development and investigation of position measuring systems for large scales for multi-coordinate drives based on the induction motor principle. Prof. Dr. Johannes Zentner You are required to hold an excellent university degree (master’s or equivalent degree) in physics, chemistry, electrical or mechanical engineering, mathematics, information technology or related fields. The entire program is run in English, so fluency in both written and spoken English is required. Skills in German are welcome. You may be a member of and receive a scholarship from the IGSM for up to 3 years. In your first semester, you will be accepted on a probationary basis.
