SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MASTER OF SCIENCE IN FISHERIES/BIODIVERSITY AND RELATED PROGRAMMES

The NEPAD- Southern Africa Network for Bio Sciences (SANBio) is implementing the Finnish- South African Partnership Programme known as “BioFISA” which will enable SANBio to roll out its Business Plan in the SADC region over a period of three years. For effective implementation, the BioFISA Programme is divided into five interlinked components among them is the R & D Projects. The NEPAD/SANBio-Regional Fish Node at Bunda College, University of Malawi is implementing one of the eight R & D priority projects focusing on securing fish biodiversity found in some of the large inland water bodies in Southern Africa.

The NEPAD/SANBio-Fish Node is pleased to announce two scholarships in Fish Genetics available not later than April 2010. The scholarships are tenable at the University of Malawi, Bunda College and the University of Zambia (UNZA) or the Copperbelt University (CBU) in Zambia. Bright young men and women from the SANBio Network Region (Angola, Botswana, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland, Seychelles, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe) are encouraged to apply for these two year prestigious scholarships.

REQUIREMENTS

The candidate will have been admitted for an MSc in Aquaculture and Fisheries Science, Fish Biodiversity or related fields in one of the following Universities:

o University of Malawi (Bunda College)
o University of Zambia (UNZA)
o Copperbelt University (CBU)

The applications should include copies of:

• Admission letters from the stated Universities
• Academic transcripts
• Letters of recommendation from two academic referees
• Full Curriculum Vitae

The scholarship covers costs of travel, tuition, board and lodging, research and stipend.
