Titile     : M.A.Sc. or Ph.D. research positions in robotics

Description     : Overview: Strong students are sought to participate in the development and analysis of novel robots based on the principles of tensegrity. Tensegrity robots are those whose components are subjected only to tension or compression loads regardless of their configuration. As such, cables can be used for the tensile components thus leading to reductions in the mass and inertia of mobile parts. These robots have potential uses in space-related systems as well as applications requiring high acceleration motion. Stipends are available for deserving students. Some potential research tasks are: • Investigation into novel robot architectures. • Kinematic analysis of robots (direct and inverse kinematic problems, workspace, etc.). • Dynamic modeling and simulation. • Development of control algorithms. • Design and construction of working prototypes.
