Master Scholarships at University of Lapland in Finland, 2017

The new University of Lapland Master Scholarships for students from outside of EU and EEA countries are now on offer to study in Finland. Scholarships are awarded within the Faculty of Art and Design, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Social Sciences.

The overreaching aim of establishing the University of Lapland was to transform the public higher education to improve quality and efficiency of teaching and learning, creating a world-class higher learning institution.

Located in the city of Rovaniemi, on the Arctic Circle, the University of Lapland is an international, multidisciplinary university whose areas of expertise include Arctic affairs and tourism research. As a research-based higher education institution, our teaching and research facilities offer students and scholars the opportunity to pursue academic excellence, at all levels – all the way up to PhD studies – in the fields of arctic issues, tourism, art and design, law, education, and the social sciences.

Course Level: Scholarships are available to pursue Master degree program.

Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded within the Faculty of Art and Design, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Social Sciences.

Scholarship Award: All students subject to tuition fees and starting their studies in autumn 2017 will be granted a scholarship of 4 000 euros. ns that you will only have to pay half of your tuition.

In addition, one-fourth of the students admitted will receive a scholarship covering 100 % of the tuition.

Students who proceed in their studies in the given time and complete at least 55 ECTS credits during their first year, will be automatically granted a scholarship for the second year of studies.

Scholarship can be taken in Finland

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for scholarship:

Admission to the university is competitive and you will not be admitted if your background is not academically relevant to the area of study you are applying for, or if you do not meet the basic eligibility requirements. Eligibility criteria for the Master’s degree programmes are informed on the web pages of each programme.

Nationality: Students from outside of EU and EEA countries are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have their previous degree.

English language Requirements: Applicants should meet the university’s language requirements.

Finland Scholarships

How to Apply: As a part of the application process, applicants must submit certain educational documents to University Admissions Finland to establish your eligibility.

  • All the application documents must be submitted by the application deadline.
    • Collect all the required application enclosures well in advance, as late enclosures are not processed.
    • Enclosures submitted by email are not accepted.
    • If you are applying for more than one programme, please note that each application must be accompanied by its own set of documents.

Documents can be submitted in Finnish, Swedish, or English. All educational documents must either be officially certified (attested) by the awarding institution, or legalised (see below). When putting together the documents, please also note any Country-Specific Requirements, which must be taken care of first.

Application documents and enclosures will not be returned to applicants. All students are required to present their original degree certificate (bachelor’s or higher) and transcript of records upon arrival before starting their studies at the University of Lapland. If a student fails to do so, her/his right to study will be revoked.

All submitted documents will be examined for their eligibility and authenticity. If an applicant submits falsified documents, her/his application will be automatically rejected.
