National Student Nurses’ Association Scholarships 2009
History
The Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association (FNSNA) was created in 1969 to honor Frances Tompkins, the Association’s first Executive Director. Organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, FNSNA awards scholarships to qualified students annually.
Scholarship recipients and sponsors are recognized at the National Student Nurses Association Annual Convention, Nashville, Tennessee, April 15-19, 2009 during the Opening Ceremony on Wednesday evening, April 15th.
Eligibility Requirements
FNSNA scholarship eligibility criteria include:
• Current enrollment and matriculation in a state-approved nursing program leading to an associate degree, baccalaureate, diploma, generic doctorate or generic master’s degree; or enrolled in an RN to BSN completion, RN to MSN completion, or LPN/LVN to RN program; Matriculation means the student has applied to a state approved nursing school and has been admitted into the nursing program.
• Pre-nursing students taking courses to prepare for matriculation into a nursing program;
• Attending classes and taking no less than six (6) credits per semester.
• Involvement in student nursing organizations and community health activities;
• Document academic achievement;
• Establish financial need;
• High school students are not eligible to apply;
• U.S. Citizen or Alien with U.S. Permanent Resident Status/Alien Registration Number;
• Students graduating prior to December 2009 are ineligible to apply.

I am from Mauritius,I hld a BSc(Hons) in Nursing from Middlesex University in Uk and a diploma in midwifery. My interest in applying for International nursing Student’s scholarship is to hold Masters in midwifery is help for trainning midwife since there is an accute shortage of midwifery teacher in Mauritius.Nurses have to wait for a least 20years service in general nursing in order to have a seat for midwifery course dispensed by doctors to serve the community.

Hi, I am not currently enrolled in a nursing program because I have no money nor can I get FASFA to assist me financially for tuiton. I want to become an LPN and Further become an RN I have looked everywhere for scholarships but the majority require that your already enrolled in school which I cannot afford right now. I am 24year old US citizen and Chicago native and expecting my first child in May I am disadvantaged financially and want nothing more in the world but to get back into school and hopefully someday become a Registered Nurse. Am Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse[KRCHN] having been trained for three and half year in Kenya medical training college and there after attaining adiploma-2003,March.
Was evaluated by a visting representative for US Scholarships and was succesful for a RN-BSN program ar Liberty university,Virginia.
