Indiana State University

The Networks Scholars Program includes a four-year Networks Scholarship, available to qualified freshmen students admitted to Indiana State University in Fall 2008 with a College of Business academic major.* The purpose of the Networks Scholars Program is to develop leadership potential of students with an interest in the financial services industry. Applications will be accepted from outstanding high school students who have an interest in careers in support of the financial services industry and who have demonstrated leadership potential. The benefits, expectations, selection process, and application procedures are outlined below.

Benefits

Students who are selected as Networks Scholars will receive the following benefits:

    * Four-year scholarship to cover full in-state tuition.
    * A professional development account valued at $3,000.
    * A new, wireless laptop computer.
    * Access to at least one paid internship.
    * An International experience.
    * An Indiana State University faculty mentor.
    * An executive mentor during junior and senior years.
    * Leadership development training and opportunities.

Expectations

The College of Business and Indiana State University have high expectations for Networks Scholars as outlined below:

    * Intend to pursue a career in the financial services industry.
    * Maintain enrollment as a full-time student at Indiana State University.
    * Maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and 3.2 GPA in business courses.
    * Participate in at least one internship.
    * Study abroad one semester or participate in an extended study trip abroad.
    * Participate with both faculty and executive mentors.
    * Participate in Networks Scholars activities and College of Business events.
    * Participate in leadership development opportunities.
    * Maintain standards of conduct consistent with Indiana State University policy.

Selection Process

While successful candidates are expected to excel in either academic preparation or leadership potential, applicants must at least meet the following minimum criteria:

    * Have a high school cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.
    * Rank in the top one-third of high school graduating class.
    * Achieve an SAT I score (V + M) of at least 1000 out of 1600 (or an equivalent ACT).
    * Have demonstrated leadership potential.
    * Apply and be admitted to Indiana State University.
    * Major or minor in one of the academic programs offered in the College of Business.*
    * Have an interest in a career in or in support of the financial services industry.

*A limited number of students will be accepted with a College of Business academic minor and who expect to work in the financial services industry upon graduation.

Admission to the Networks Scholars Program is competitive. The applications will be reviewed and selected candidates may be interviewed via the telephone. After the candidates' credentials are reviewed, selected candidates will be invited to campus for an interview session in February, 2007. Individuals not selected will be considered for other College of Business scholarships.
