NIDA Postdoctoral Research Fellowships for US and French Scientists, 2017

The National Institute on Drug Abuse is welcoming French and US applicants for its Postdoctoral Research Fellowships programme. These fellowships are open for French scientists to work in the United States and for US scientists to work in France.

The aim of the fellowships is to support clinical research on drug use (including nicotine), its consequences, and the underlying neurobiological, behavioral, and social mechanisms involved.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) is a United States federal-government research institute whose mission is to “lead the Nation in bringing the power of science to bear on drug abuse and addiction.”

Course Level: These fellowships are available to pursue Postdoctoral research.

Study Subject: These fellowships are awarded in the field of Drug Abuse.

Scholarship Award: These fellowships will cover the followings:

  • French scientists spending their fellowship in the United States will receive an annual stipend of $47,484USD for living and personal expenses and $7,750USD supplemental funding to cover the cost of personal health insurance and professional development activities. The fellowship also provides air travel, for the fellow only, at the beginning and end of the fellowship.
  • S. scientists spending their fellowship in France will be employed by Inserm under a temporary contract providing an annual salary between 34,200€ and 45,600€ (depending upon the number of years of postdoctoral experience), including personal health insurance. The fellowship also provides air travel, for the fellow only, at the beginning and end of the fellowship.

Numbers of Scholarships: Four fellowships are available.

Scholarship can be taken in France and USA

Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following area for the scholarship:

French applicants must:

  • Hold an earned doctoral degree in medicine or biomedical sciences.
  • Have completed postdoctoral research demonstrating the ability to engage in independent research.
  • Be a citizen or permanent resident of France.
  • Be eligible for a J-1 visa to enter the United States.
  • Be proficient in written and spoken English.

U.S. applicants must:

  • Hold an earned doctoral degree in medicine or biomedical sciences.
  • Be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
  • Live and work in the United States at the time the application is submitted.
  • Be eligible for a temporary-stay visa to work in France.

Nationality: The US and French applicants can apply for these fellowships.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have doctoral degree.

English Language Requirement: Applicants must meet the necessary language proficiency requirements of the host institution
