Scholarship Description: The Oxford Cancer Research Centre is offering two full-time postdoctoral fellowships for three years in the first instance, available to clinicians who have completed a higher research degree. The purpose of the Fellowship is to allow surgeons to pursue academic research at a postdoctoral level. These awards will enable successful fellows to make the transition from doctoral research training to an independent clinical academic post. Surgery is a key strategic priority for cancer research in Oxford, supported by the establishment of a Surgical Oncology Section within the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, affiliated to the Department of Oncology, and the highlighting of surgical oncology as a key research theme in the Oxford Cancer Research Centre. Oxford now has, for the first time, the three major cancer treatment modalities, i.e. radiation, drugs and surgery, placed within a cohesive structure which facilitates translational research.
