Okazaki Kaheita International Scholarship
The External Relations Office is pleased to announce the availability of the Okazaki Kaheita International Scholarship for a master’s course in any area of specialization (except medicine, dentistry, and veterinary science) in Japan. The scholarship grant, established in memory of Mr. Kaheita Okazaki, aims to contribute to peace and development at a global level by assisting the people of the People’s Republic of China as well as other Asian countries like the Philippines, to cultivate their skills and talents and to promote mutual understanding and international association.
Eligibility
- Filipino citizen residing in the Philippines
- Aged below 25 on April 1, 2009
- Graduate of the De La Salle University
Scholarship Coverage
- 100,000 settling allowance for initial expenses to begin living and studying in Japan;
- 100,000 yen monthly allowance as an auditor of a graduate course or for the duration of the scholar’s Japanese language study
- 120,000 yen monthly allowance as a master’s degree student;
- all required entrance and tuition fees;
- roundtrip airfare to and from Japan;
- roundtrip airline ticket for a homevisit during the second year of the scholarship; and
- dormitory accommodations
- train pass for commuting between the dormitory and the University.
Duration
The scholarship is for three years which includes one year of Japanese language study at a Japanese language school specified by the Foundation or one year of auditing a postgraduate course, followed by two years of study as a master’s degree student.
Application Documents to be Submitted
- Official application form duly filled out
- School records (transcript of records)
- Certificate of Graduation
- Health Certificate issued by a doctor clearly stating that the applicant is fit for an extended period of study overseas
- Recommendation from a former professor stating the academic performance, personality and future prospects of the applicant
- Recommendation from current employer
Application forms and further information may be obtained from Ms. Aleta Tabalba, Faculty Exchange Coordinator, at the Office of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for External Relations, Room 309, Yuchengco Building, local 163. Complete documents must be submitted to Mrs. Tabalba on or before July 7, 2008. All applications must be submitted through the External Relations Office; direct applications will not be entertained.
