OSSI NASA Scholarships and Research Opportunities in USA, 2015

NASA Scholarships are available for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) degrees. Community college students, with at least two years remaining at the community college are also eligible. For 2015 year following scholarships are available: MUREP scholarship for four years to pursue undergraduate studies leading to Associate or Bachelor degree at an accredited United States MSI, Aeronautics Undergraduate Scholarship and Aeronautics Graduate Scholarship Program for a period of two years in aeronautic/aviation studies. All applications must be submitted by March 31, 2015.

Study Subject(s): Scholarships are awarded for pursuing a STEM discipline (Chemistry, computer and information science and engineering (CISE), Engineering, Geosciences, Life Sciences, materials research, mathematical sciences, physics and astronomy) except Aeronautics scholarship which is available for aeronautic/aviation studies (Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics).
Course Level: Scholarships are available to undergraduate and graduate (masters and doctoral) studies.

Eligibility: Students must:
-Be US citizens.
-Have a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or greater on a 4.0 scale.
-Be pursuing a STEM discipline.
-Each scholarship opportunity has unique requirements (review program specific).
-Rising freshman, sophomores, juniors, or seniors. Community college students, with at least two years remaining at the community college are also eligible. The Aeronautic Research Mission Directorate (ARMD) scholarship opportunity offers graduate student scholarships.

Scholarship Description: Scholarships provide financial support to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) degrees and provide the opportunity for students to deepen their inquiry within STEM through a myriad of channels including a research experience, technical collaborations and professional development. The NASA Scholarship and Research Opportunities are competitive opportunities that focuses on students in STEM discipline to address the critical shortage of qualified STEM professionals that the nation is facing. NASA Scholarships and Research Opportunities available in FY 2015 are:
-NASA Minority University Research Education Project (MUREP) Scholarship Program: The NASA Scholarship and Research Opportunities (SRO) MUREP, awards scholarships for individuals pursuing or planning to pursue undergraduate studies leading to Associate or Bachelor degree in relevant NASA related disciplines at an accredited United States minority serving institution (MSI). This opportunity is open to students pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), specifically in areas of projected deficiencies in the NASA STEM workforce.
-NASA Aeronautics Scholarship Program: NASA Scholarship and Research Opportunities administers funds provided by Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate (ARMD) to make available scholarships to individuals in undergraduate and graduate aeronautic/aviation studies. This scholarship opportunity, with a timeline of two years, is required by the NASA Authorization Act of 2005 in support of research degrees relevant to the ARMD. Aeronautics scholarships are directed toward enhancing the state of aeronautics for the nation and transforming the nation’s air transportation system. The ARMD focus is on cutting-edge, fundamental research in traditional aeronautical disciplines, as well as emerging fields with promising application to aeronautics.

What does it cover?
-NASA Minority University Research Education Project (MUREP) Scholarship Program
For each scholar, the institution receives 75% of the tuition up to a $9,000 award per scholar utilizing the scholarship support in awarded year via a NASA training grant.
-NASA Aeronautics Scholarship Program- Undergraduate Program: Selected undergraduate students’ receive 100% of their tuition and education related cost up to $15,000 per academic year for 2 years via a NASA training grant. Students are required to participate in summer internship during the summer of scholarship award period. The scholars receive a $10,000 stipend for their participation. This is contingent upon the student meeting academic criteria, scholarship responsibilities and the availability of funding.
-NASA Aeronautics Scholarship Program- Graduate Program: Graduates will be funded up to $11,000 towards their tuition and will receive a $35,000 stipend per academic year for 2 years via a NASA training grant. Students shall participate in the proposal research at a NASA center during the summer of scholarship award period. The scholars receive a $10,000 stipend for their participation. This is contingent upon the student meeting academic criteria, scholarship responsibilities and the availability of funding.
