A paediatric diabetes fellowship will be available from July / August 2008 at the Mater Children’s Hospital. The position is for 1 year. It is designed to further the career of a young paediatric endocrinologist with an interest in diabetes research. The successful candidate will have completed specialist training in paediatrics and obtained an FRACP or equivalent qualification.
They will be based full-time at the Mater Children’s Hospital, Brisbane, in the Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes, which provides care for approximately 600 children and adolescents with diabetes. The successful candidate will actively participate in the care of children with diabetes and contribute to the teaching of junior medical staff. They will also be expected to undertake a program of either clinical or basic research in paediatric diabetes. Research interests of the department include the epidemiology of Type 1 diabetes and abnormalities of monocyte / dendritic cell function in children with Type 1 diabetes.
The total salary package per annum is $78,346 Australian dollars. The position is sponsored by Novo Nordisk.
