The Department of Computer Science at Southern Illinois University invites applications for PhD positions to work on Computer Graphics & Animation and/or Virtual Reality Interaction.

Successful applicants will pursue research projects in the context of 3D Fabrication & 3D Printing, Procedural 3D Modeling, Motion Analysis and Synthesis, Multi-Character Narrative Simulation, Intelligent Virtual Characters, Embodied & Multimodal Interaction and Immersive Interaction.

Eligibility: Ideal candidates should be fluent in English, programming (C#/C++ and Java preferred), and well versed in mathematics (especially calculus and linear algebra). We particularly encourage individuals interested in a subset of the following areas: Graphics (OpenGL, Unity3D, Maya, etc.), Mathematical Optimization (Convex and Non-convex optimization), Parallel Programming (CUDA, Intel Xeon Phi, etc.), Computer Vision (3D reconstruction, motion capture, etc.), and Machine Learning (graphical models, deep learning, etc.).

Nationality: All applications are welcomed and encouraged and will receive consideration.

College Admission Requirement 

Entrance Requirement: Candidates should have a BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar area, along with knowledge of and experience in the areas of Computer Graphics & Animation, Virtual Reality, and/or Human-Computer Interaction.
