2 PhD student positions in Molecular Microbiology / Cellular Microbiology / Immunology

Two research positions (2 PhD student position) starting from September/October 2007 are available to study (1) innate immune recognition, regulation of receptor-mediated cell activation of urothelial cells in urinary tract infection caused by extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC) and (2) evolution and horizontal gene transfer of pathogenicity islands of ExPEC. Candidates with an interest in microbial pathogenesis, mucosal immunology, and innate immunology are encouraged to contact Dr. Soeren Schubert. We are seeking highly qualified and motivated applicants with strong experimental lab skills in the field of molecular biology, microbiology, cell biology, or immunology. The language in the laboratory is English and German.
Ludwig-Maximilians-University is a large academic clinical and research institution with strong scientific emphasis on microbial pathogenesis, inflammation, and immunology involved in various postgraduate training programs. Munich is the capital of the federal state Bayern situated in the south of Germany (http://www.muenchen.de).
