PhD fellowship at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ)

Job Description : Two PhD positions are available at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ, http://www.iciq.es) located in Tarragona, Spain under the supervision of Dr. Atsushi Urakawa.

The projects concern with the investigation of heterogeneous catalytic CO2 fixation processes (catalytic conversion of CO2 to fuel and useful chemicals) and with the development of microreaction systems and in situ/operando spectroscopic tools.

Requirements:
The candidate is highly motivated and an independent-thinker. She/he must (or are expected to in a near future) hold a MSc degree (in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or similar disciplines) and has great interests in rational design of efficient and environmentally benign heterogeneous catalytic processes and in situ spectroscopy. Experience and/or strong interests in one or more of the following subjects are highly valued.

* Catalyst synthesis/preparation
* Reactor design and reaction engineering
* In situ spectroscopy
* Electrochemistry
* Photochemistry
* Fuel cells

Duration of the PhD fellowship is about 4 years.

Tarragona is a beautiful city with 140,000 inhabitants on the Mediterranean coast of Spain, located about 1 hour (100 kilometres) south of Barcelona. Tarragona is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is close to modern tourist resorts.
