5. MSc veterinary medicine: 2007-2009 (persued in Norwegian School of Veterinary Science-Oslo, Norway)

Awards: Best academic student (1984-1986, 1988-1990, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006) certificate awards offered by Minister in the Ministry of Livestock Development in Tanzania and Director of Veterinary services in Tanzania.

Working experience: Veterinary services for 22 years.

1) Biological control of some plant pathogens (Alternatia, Fusarium, Cercospora) using Tricoderma sp. and some species of Streptomyces (1993-1997), Botany Department, Tanta University).
2) Variability of Orobanche species using ISSR.
3) Gene expression pattern after parasite attachment on root system
4) Studying the mechanisms of plant resistance for Orobanche sp.

My name is Addisu Assefa from Ethiopia. I hold M. Sc degree from Addis Ababa University. I am now a lecturer of Microbiology at Madawalabu University, Ethiopia. I know ectomycorrhizal fungi as they are associated with lots of plants and they aid in phosphorous solublisation and absorption, biocontrol agents of disease, heavy metal resistance, and enabling plant to grow in marginalized habitats etc. I have a great desire to search for new inputs as related to these fungi if I will be selected in your scholar ship.
