2015 University of Oslo PhD Fellowship in Criminology and/or Sociology of Law, Norway

University of Oslo is inviting applications for PhD fellowships in criminology and/or sociology of law. The candidates must hold a master’s degree in criminology or sociology of law, or in an equivalent field. The fellowships are for a period of up to 4 years, with teaching constituting 25 % of the workload. Alternatively, they are for 3 years without any teaching duties. A 4-year Fellowship requires the candidate to meet current teaching needs at the Department. The Fellowship period may be reduced within the framework of pertaining regulations based on previously held research fellowship positions. The application deadline is 2 March 2015.

Scholarship Description: 1-2 positions as PhD Research Fellow (SKO 1017) are available at the Department of Criminology and Sociology of Law. The Department is the leading educational and research institution in criminology and sociology of law in Norway. The purpose of the Fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree. The selected candidates will automatically be admitted to the faculty’s PhD programme. The fellowships are for a period of up to 4 years, with teaching constituting 25 % of the workload. Alternatively, they are for 3 years without any teaching duties. A 4-year Fellowship requires the candidate to meet current teaching needs at the Department. The Fellowship period may be reduced within the framework of pertaining regulations based on previously held research fellowship positions.

Selection Criteria: In the evaluation of candidates, emphasis will be placed on the quality of the research proposal. The candidates’ academic and personal qualifications will also be taken into consideration. The relevance of the proposed project for the development of the research at the Department is also of importance.
