The Laboratory for Semiconductor Physics is looking for a PhD student to work on the first-principles simulations of various 2D materials. The PhD project involves the modelling and simulations of various 2D materials and their heterostructures using state-of-the-art first-principles modelling approaches.
The aim of the scholarship to support the interpretation of experimental results, as well as predicts the properties of new 2D materials and heterostructures, as a guideline for the growth of these materials and their integration into new functional nanoelectronic devices.

Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:
- The student with a Master in Physics, Physical Engineering or in Nanosciences and Nanotechnology, with a strong interest in theoretical condensed matter physics and materials modelling.
- The project also involves a strong interaction with colleagues involved in the growth and experimental characterization of materials and devices.
Nationality: Applicants from Belgium are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
