PhD position in Aesthetics 2010, Sweden
Job Description:The main task of the student is to focus on his/her doctoral studies. Some additional work at the institution, involving teaching etc., can be part of the position (max 20%).
Applications should include a brief description of research interest and past experience, a CV, copies of exams, degrees and grades, a copy of your Master thesis (or a draft thereof) and other relevant documents as well as a research plan (4-5 pages). The candidates are encouraged to provide letter(s) of recommendation.
Goal of the Program
For the Doctoral Dissertation the Doctoral Candidate is required.
* To demonstrate a broad knowledge and systematic understanding of a particular subject within Aesthetics.
* To demonstrate familiarity with general scientific methodology, as well as other methods particular to the subject of research
* To demonstrate an ability for scientific analysis and synthesis, in addition to independent, critical assessment of new and complex phenomena, issuses and situtations.
* To demonstrate the ability to identify, formulate and critically assess issues as well as the appropriate methods for dealing with those issues, and further research in the given field while abiding by strict deadlines.
* To demonstrate the ability to present and discuss, orally and in writing, one’s research results both domestically and internationally, with authority and clarity, within the philosophical and scientific communities.
* To demonstrate an ability for identifying the need for further research in a particular subject.
* To demonstrate a potential for both research and education in contexts that contribute to the development of education and society in general.
* To demonstrate the ability to make ethical judgments regarding research, and to demonstrate a deep perspective of the limits of science and its role in society.
