PhD position in cardiovascular stem cell research

Description : We are seeking a highly motivated student in a research project that investigates the interaction between pro-angiogenic growth factors (e.g. VEGF, PDGF-BB, FGF-2) in blood vessel differentiation from mouse and human embryonic stem cells. Focus is the impact of intracellular calcium, nitric oxide and reactive oxygen species in the initiation of vasculogenesis. The PhD position is offered for 3 years and includes a research exchange with the Northwestern University in Chicago. The research project is a subproject of the International Graduate College “Signaling Mechanisms in Lung Physiology and Disease” (SMLPD) which is funded by the German Research Foundation. We offer excellent opportunities for research and education in an internationally oriented reseach group.
