As the leading research center in Europe in the field of environmental health (the connecting discipline between biomedicine and environmental research), scientists in the Helmholtz Center Munich analyse fundamental processes of disease development, and the damage to, as well as the defence and compensatory mechanisms of, organisms.

The Helmholtz Center Munich is a national research center of the Federal Government and the State of Bavaria with its headquarters in Neuherberg to the north of Munich, and is a member of the Helmholtz Association, the largest public research organisation in Germany.

The Institute of Experimental Genetics invites applications for a

PhD Position (D 15/2008)

Job Description
- characterization of mouse models to identify pathomechanisms involved in Type 2 Diabetes development
- metabolic analyses (e.g. test to characterize in vivo insulin action via radioisotope-approach)
- gene expression and protein analyses
- biochemical analyses
- histological analyses

Your Qualifications
- master degree or equivalent in biology, biochemistry, veterinary medicine or similar fields
- keen interest in science, metabolism, and handling alive mice
- expertise in molecular biology
- you enjoy working in a team as well as independently
- MS-office skills

Our Offer
- employment contract for 3 years with a standard public salary (TVöD, 50% EG13)
