Ph.D. Position in Molecular Aging and Signal Transduction Research
Applicants are invited to join our dynamic research group at the Institute for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology II at the
Heinrich-Heine-University, Düsseldorf, Germany.
Projects at the institute focus on the biochemical, cell biological and genetic analysis of cellular signaling pathways controlled by
Gi-proteins and PI3-kinases [see e.g. Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA (2007), 104, 3003 Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA (2007), 104, 4371
Autophagy (2007) 3, 393]. Our group is in particular interested in the signaling mechanisms and cellular responses elicited by
mitotic stress [see Oncogene (2007) doi:10.1038/sj.onc.1210628 J. Biol. Chem. (2007), 282, 29273]. Here, the successful candidate
will be part of a newly established project (http://www.iuf.uni-duesseldorf.de/SFB728/TP%20A5.htm) which uses biochemical/
molecular and imaging methods to characterize the role of components of the mitotic spindle apparatus in senescence and cellular
aging.
Applicants should be highly motivated and hold an undergraduate degree in science and/or medicine or pharmacy. A strong
interest in cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or mouse animal work is a must. You will benefit from a stimulating,
interdisciplinary working environment at the Medical Faculty (i.e., the Biomedical Research Center BMFZ the collaborative
research centers SFB 575, SFB 612 and SFB 728 the collaborative research group FOR 729 and the Graduate School 1089) and
training in a wide spectrum of modern techniques based on a superb infrastructure.
