PhD Position in Protein Structure Modelling
We are looking for a highly-motivated PhD student in protein structure modeling and prediction within a research project on the development of automated computational methods for the SWISS-MODEL expert system for comparative protein structure modelling.
Education Requirements for the PhD position are a master’s diploma, or equivalent, preferably in computational or structural biology, computational chemistry, biochemistry or biophysics. Good programming skills and motivation to adopt modern software engineering principles are essential. A strong background in protein structure modeling, prediction or experimental structure determination is highly desirable. Applications from students with a degree in related fields with appropriate knowledge and experience will also be considered. Applicants should have a profound understanding of the principles of protein structure, and experience in chemo-informatics, computational structural biology, or molecular modeling.

Duration of appointment 3 years (extendable)
Remarks You will be working in a highly stimulating and international environment at the Biozentrum of the University Basel and the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics. The salary offered is according to the guidelines of the Swiss National Science Foundation. The position is available immediately, starting date upon agreement.
