PhD Position in Pulp and Paper Technology
Nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) has extraordinary mechanical and film forming properties. The objective of our research is to reveal and further develop the possibilities of NFC as barrier film in combination with nanoscaled clay as barrier promoter to open up new paths for sustainable packaging solutions.
The successful candidate has a master degree in pulp and paper technology or related fields and is interested to work in close collaboration with a Swiss industrial partner (Paper industry). Curtain coating technology will be used to develop barrier alternatives for substitution of aluminium foil composites. The research results will be documented by physical and chemical analysis, high-resolution spectroscopy and microscopy.
We expect a highly motivated, open-minded person with a strong interest in material science and fluent proficiency in English and German. Good talent in design and operation of experimental set-ups are an advantage.
You will be working in an international, science oriented team addressing diverse fields of wood science and technology.
