Functiebeschrijving

Job description:
A grant awarded by the Heinsius Houboltfonds has provided funds for a researcher/PhD student for the Tinnitus research project. The subsidized research project is part of a study of the neurophysiological mechanisms that lie at the root of tinnitus. The main assumption in the research project is that tinnitus is caused by deviant neural activity in the auditory areas of the brain. Conducting animal experiments will form one of your duties. In addition, you will further develop the experimental setup for electrophysiological research and conduct measurement of neural brain activity in laboratory animals. This part of the research mainly focuses on developing and implementing methods for describing neural brain activity by means of signal analysis techniques. These techniques will subsequently be used to study the effects of local medicinal interventions in the auditory organ (the cochlea) on brain activity.
