Role of parent material and soil processes in micronutrient cycling in agricultural soils

The PhD education is part of a Research Council (Formas) funded project”Micronutrient management strategies in organic systems: How to utilize local and site specific resources for sustainable crop and animal production of high quality products?” There has been a significant increase in demand for organic products in recent years. In addition, climate change conscious consumers prefer local products with low food miles. Consequently there is a specific need to focus on how best to optimise food and feed quality at a local level. The planned research is designed to provide information on how soils can be managed to supply the optimum micronutrient profile for organic products and contribute to the development of sustainable management strategies for organic farm systems.
