Project description
In a Software as Service (SaS) approach, a provider can realize and maintain business processes efficiently, that can be used by different consumers. The SAS-LEG project aims to offer a software engineering approach to build and maintain SaS platforms in the domain of local e-Government, emphasizing on offering powerful configuration possibilities. This process will leverage a number of disciplines and technologies:
- Model-driven development at the business, architecture and services level.
- Variability management to handle configuration at the three aforementioned levels.
- Quality-driven architecting to ensure the satisfaction of critical Quality Attributes.
- Powerful run-time reconfiguration techniques.
A pilot in the application of health care for local e-Government in the Netherlands will be the testbed for the technologies developed in the project. The consortium includes four partners: University of Groningen (academic-scientific), Cordys (technology provider), EGEM (public organization - expert in e-government for municipalities) and project WZZ (union of municipalities - end user).

Requirements
- you should have a M.Sc. or equivalent in computer science or a related discipline, preferably with a strong background in software engineering
- you are expected to have an excellent academic record (list of examination marks from your university degree) and be curious, creative and ambitious
- you should be able to write scientific articles and reports (proven by your graduation thesis or another comparable report) and be fluent in English
- you should have affinity to research with an industrial focus, be a team player, open-minded and actively participate in knowledge sharing.

Conditions of employment
Employment type: Tijdelijk. Contract length: Four years. Hours per week: 38.
The University of Groningen offers a salary of € 2000 gross per month in the first year up to a maximum of € 2558 gross per month in the last year. It concerns a full-time appointment for a period of four years to be concluded with a PhD examination. A training program is part of the agreement to support the PhD candidates in their professional and personal development as well as their career planning. The University of Groningen strives to offer an aspiring environment for research providing generous technical and financial support in order to motivate young researchers. The position is immediately available and will be open until a suitable candidate is found..
Maximum salary: 2558.
