This project aims at investigating molecular mechanisms which direct homing and tissue-specific infiltration of maligannt lymphomas to host tissues (e.g. bone marrow). In particular, distinct modifications of terminal sialylation of endothelial cell surface glycoconjugates are measured which are responsible for either inducing or blocking leukemia specific adhesion to vascular endothelium and extravasation of leukemic cells.

This project is in close context to related projects of our group and to those of an internationally renowned Indian research group.

Solid knowledge in biochemistry, molecular biology and cell biolgy. Practical experience in standard techniques of these fields including those of immunology such as flow cytometry and immunofluorescence microscopy are desired but not mandatory.
