Modification of nanoparticles by controlled polymerisation techniques

Within the Programme “Advanced Engineering Materials“ in the Research Area „Key Technologies“ of the Helmholtz Association, GKSS develops functionalised nanostructured polymers for applications in the light-weight applications. The focus of the PhD work is on modification of nanoparticles by controlled polymerisation techniques. Additionally, the nanoparticles will be compounded and the nanocomposites will be characterised.

As successful applicant, you should have an excellent college/university degree in macromolecular chemistry or material science and have a good expertise in the field of characterisation and synthesis of macromolecules, as well as experience in polymer synthesis and characterisation. Experience in the areas of polymer composites or nanocomposites are desired. The applicant shall present a high degree of self-motivation, enthusiasm, good soft skills and communication skills as well as a target oriented working profile in an interdisciplinary research field.

We offer an appropriate salary, related to TV-AVH as well as the usual public sector social benefits.
