As the leading research center in Europe in the field of environmental health (the connecting discipline between biomedicine and environmental research), scientists in the Helmholtz Center Munich analyse fundamental processes of disease development, and the damage to, as well as the defence and compensatory mechanisms of, organisms.The Helmholtz Center Munich is a national research center of the Federal Government and the State of Bavaria with its headquarters in Neuherberg to the north of Munich, and is a member of the Helmholtz Association, the largest public research organisation in Germany.

The Institute of Biochemical Plant Pathology is searching for a

PhD Position – Plant Molecular Biology (D 18/2008)

Job Description
- focus on the structure/function of components of plant innate immunity and identification of novel microbial elicitors
- Emphasis will be on responses and resistance induced by pathogen-associated molecular pattern (PAMPs)

Your Qualifications
- high motivation with an excellent diploma/master degree in biology, biochemistry or a closely related field
- strong background in plant molecular biology
- interest to learn state-of-the-art techniques in plant transformation and transfection
- you enjoy working in a team as well as independently
