PhD Position project Modular Protein Polymers

Stellenbeschreibung: The Chair Group Physical Chemistry and Colloid Science (PCC) performs fundamental research in a broad area of colloidal systems, nanotechnology, and surface physics.
PCC has a vacancy for THREE PhDs for the project Modular Protein Polymers.
Recent developments in the construction of genes make it possible to develop biosynthetic polymers built up entirely from aminoacids. The tendency of specific amino acid sequences to adopt specific secondary structures gives these protein polymers novel and unique self-assembling features. Three PhD positions are available:
- PhD 1 for developing new genes and protein polymers: experience in molecular biology or biotechnology is required
- PhD 2 for studying protein polymer self-assembly from solutions, as a function of appropriate triggers like temperature and pH change: experience in physicochemical methods is required
- PhD 3 for studying co-assembly of protein polymers with metals, to develop bio-based electronic wires and circuits: experience in physicochemical techniques is required.
Required education/skills:University Graduate
- MSc chemistry, applied physics, or biotechnology
- Good expression in written and oral English
- Excellent experimental skills
- Enthousiastic and innovative researcher with good contactual skills
Candidates having a solid background in physical chemistry, preferably with expertise in colloid and interface science and/or biochemistry/-molecular biology, are encouraged to apply for these PhD positions.

Conditions of employment:
Estimated maximum salary per month: eur 2500 - 3000
Salary: scale 10.
Maximum salary amount in Euro’s a month 2558
Employment basis: Temporary for specified period
Duration of the contract: 4 years
Maximum hours per week: 38
Additional conditions of employment:
We offer you a full-time position for a period of 1,5 years with a possibility of extension for 2,5 years. Gross salary per month EURO 2000.00 in the first year rising to EURO 2558.00 per month in the fourth year.
