PhD position Vienna Austria : Epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) has been increasingly recognized as a fundamental process during the malignant progression and metastasis of epithelial cancers. The lab of Wolfgang Mikulits focuses on the signal transduction pathways and transcriptional regulators which cooperate to cause EMT and metastasis, including oncogenic Ras and TGF-beta signaling. The thesis project will address the cooperation of oncogenes and tumor suppressors and the synergy of signaling cascades on Jak-Stat signaling during EMT and metastatic dissemination of liver carcinoma cells.

The project is embedded in a large national network of scientists (SFB) focusing on Jak-Stat signaling in disease. Applicants should be highly motivated and experienced with standard methods of molecular and cell biology. The starting point for the PhD thesis should be as soon as possible.
