PhD Position – Zebrafish Neurodegeneration- Model of Polyglutamine diseases (m/f) (D 34/2008) (85758 München/Neuherberg)

We are a member of the Helmholtz German Research Community, a leading association Europe-wide, focusing on “Environmental Health”.

The aim of our research is to proactively detect health risks for both humans and the environment, decoding the mechanisms of pathogenesis and developing concepts for prevention and therapy of diseases.

The Institute of Developmental Genetics (Research Group Zebrafisch Neuroimaging) invites applications for a

PhD Position – Zebrafish Neurodegeneration- Model of Polyglutamine diseases (m/f) (D 34/2008)

Job Description
- Cloning of multi-transgene expression system
- Establishment and characterization of a Parkinson Disease model in zebrafish
- Zebrafish genetics, histology and cell biology
- Time-lapse microscopy, high-resolution imaging
- Image analysis and rendering

Your Qualifications
- Master/Diploma degree in biology, biochemistry, veterinary, medicine or related field
- Solid knowledge in molecular biology, genetics, cell biology and neurobiology
- Strong interest in bio-imaging approaches
- Willingness to work with animal models
- Enthusiasm about working in an interdisciplinary and challenging research area
- Excellent communication skills and team spirit
