PhD positions and Postdoc fellowship in Oncology, Göttingen (Göttingen)

The Department of Hematology/Oncology at the University Göttingen offers positions for PhDs and one postdoctoral fellow in the field of tumor biology. We are seeking for highly motivated and enthusiastic scientists to work on the molecular and cellular basis in tumor biology.

The primary goal of the work is to understand the molecular basis of deregulated Wnt signaling in several tumor models (mouse, xenopus, in vitro tissue culture). Research is funded in part by the German Research Society (DFG) within the new research group FOR942 (http://www.for942.med.uni-goettingen.de)

Applicants for the Postdoc fellowship should hold an above-average Ph.D. degree in biological or medical sciences, and should have profound expertise in at least one of the following areas: mouse genetics, cell biology, tumor pathology. Research activity should be documented by publications in peer-reviewed journals. The candidate must be fluent in English. Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest to conduct research in an academic setting which includes writing of grant applications and teaching of students and of PhD students.

Applicants for the PhD position should hold a Master degree/Diploma in Biological Sciences or equivalent and have very good knowledge and technical skills in molecular biology, molecular oncology and/or developmental biology.

The FOR 942 (“Wnt signaling in development and tumor progression”) includes research teams from theoretical and clinical institutions of the medical faculty and is dedicated to the cooperative investigation of various aspects of Wnt signaling in developmental and cancer models. The University of Göttingen offers an attractive scientific environment for highly motivated young researchers as it has recently been successful in the Excellence Initiative of the German Federal and State Governments.

Women are especially encouraged to apply. Handicapped applicants with equal qualifications will be given preferential treatment.
Applications including CV, list of publications, two recommendation letters, former research and contact information for referees,  should be sent in electronic form to
