The Department of Tumor Genetics and Immunogenetics at the MDC invites applications for a position as
PhD student (3 years)
The position is immediately available to study regulated epithelial and mucosal trafficking of leukocytes and the development of mucosal-specific immune responses.
Our group is interested in a better understanding of the role of homeostatic chemokine receptors in lymphoid organ development, systemic and mucosal immune responses, and chronic inflammatory diseases associated with lymphoid neo-organogenesis. The impact of these receptors on the etiology of intestine-associated immune responses by directing circulating lymphocytes to gut associated lymphoid and interstitial tissues during inflammation will be the main topic of this position. As in vivo models we are using diverse transgenic mouse strains deficient for homeostatic chemokine receptors. The current project is part of the Collaborative Research Center "SFB 633 - Induction and Modulation of T Cell-Mediated Immune Responses in the Gastrointestinal Tract".
We are looking for a highly motivated graduated biology/biochemistry student with interest in immunology and cell biology. The MDC has initiated a PhD program with additional scientific as well as soft skill training possibilities, in which the applicant is expected to participate.
Knowledge in molecular biology, immunology as well as mouse models are advantageous but not a prerequisite.
Applications from severely handicapped persons with basically similar qualifications will be given priority.
Interested applicants should send their applications and curriculum vitae to:
