The UCD (Bio)pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences (BPS) Programme is a cross-institutional research and education programme under the leadership of the UCD Conway Institute of Biomolecular and Biomedical Sciences. The BPS complements the research and training programmes of the National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training that has been established on the UCD campus in partnership with DCU, TCD and Sligo-IT and whose laboratories are currently located in the UCD Conway Institute.
The BPS has underpinned a number of research and educational initiatives and several industry collaborations have been established or are under development. The BPS is a major initiative of the UCD Conway Institute that leverages the
considerable resources and expertise in the University to foster translational research and undergraduate and postgraduate education in (bio)pharmaceutical sciences. This initiative is funded by the HEA’s Programme for Research in Third Level Institutions.
PhD Students will pursue postgraduate studies in the area of (Bio)pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences: an integration of Synthetic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology, Bioprocessing, Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology. The supervisor will be assigned according to the research interest of the candidate.
Applications
All PhD candidates must hold a minimum of a 1.1 or 2.1 Degree in pharmaceutical, biological or chemistry-based subjects. Postgraduate Studentships are for a 4 year structured PhD. Annual stipend will be €18,000. These positions are due to commence in September 2008.
